How do I use the ProStack SMTP service?

We offer an SMTP relay service for customers who do not have a built-in outbound mail delivery on their server.

You can connect to this service using the SMTP protocol and send mail from your applications and websites.

Please note: Using this service is by request and an additional cost may apply. If you haven't already, please contact Support to get set up.

Step 1 - Adding your domain

First, you'll need to let us know what domain you need to add to the service. Only authorised domains are permitted to send mail.

Once you have done this, we will provide you with a set of DNS record changes you'll need to make.

This includes:

  • Adding the relay to your SPF record.
  • Adding a DKIM record.

This ensures mail can be delivered properly and is not marked as spam by recipient mail servers.

Step 2 - Setting up your credentials

Next, you'll have a set of credentials issued by us, including a key (which acts as a password).

Next, you'll need to add the following to your application or website:

SMTP hostname: smtp.spamfree.uk

Username: prostack/customer-smtp

Password: <provided>

SSL: off

Port: 25

Most popular applications, or content management systems (such as WordPress) have plugins or facilities to send mail using an external SMTP service.

Consult your documentation if you're unsure.
