We enforce a firewall blocking policy on our servers to mitigate the risk of cyber-attacks from networks that originate a large volume of malicious traffic.
We use a software-based firewall configuration using industry-standard iptables.
This policy is flexible and granular, in order to balance security whilst still allowing access to customer websites.
What countries are blocked from accessing my server?
By default, we block SSH access for the following countries: CN, RU in order to prevent port scanning, brute-force attempts, or other suspicious behaviour that originates most commonly from these countries. Exceptions can be made for Cloud & Dedicated server customers - just contact support.
Can I request one of these countries to be unblocked?
Absolutely, if you want access from any countries that will have a block in place and you have a Dedicated or Cloud server, get in touch with our support team via a support ticket and we'll allow access.
- Please note: it's not possible to unblock these countries with our shared hosting plans.
Where can I check for this?
If you are a Cloud/Dedicated server customer, you can log in to WHM and navigate to Plugins > ConfigServer Firewall and Security. Scroll down to Search IP address option and paste the IP address reported by your client and enter.
If the search results show CC_DENY_PORTS or CC_DENY match as shown in the image, please open a support request with us and we can get the country code removed from the blocked list.
