Diagnosing and fixing website faults can often raise questions over accountability. It may not always be clear from the symptoms of a website problem if the issue relates to the website application code or the hosting environment. This is a common frustration for website owners who are only seeking a clear path to resolution.

Therefore, it is highly beneficial for all parties that agencies and hosts have a good working relationship, where problems and fixes can be efficiently discussed, and knowledge shared.

A good managed hosting provider should encourage open dialogue with agencies when any issue arises. The host can either resolve the issue if it’s hosting related or provide detailed advice on where to fix the problem if the fault lies in the application or code.

With an effective communication and collaboration process in place, customer issues won’t fall through gaps that can develop between developer/designer and server administration.
