Moving from one hosting provider to another raises these common concerns:

  • Will the website work correctly on the new host?
  • Will there be lengthy downtime or disruption to the site during migration?
  • I run eCommerce sites, how do I avoid duplicate or missing orders?
  • How much time will my agency need to allocate?
  • What additional costs will apply while running dual hosting packages for the duration of a migration?

Agencies should expect considerable assistance around migrations from a managed hosting provider, with a plan put together that addresses all the above concerns. This should include:

– Effective tools to test site functionality and performance of replica websites before they are switched.

– A migration plan to suit the type of website and eliminate any delays due to DNS changes etc.

– Special attention to dynamic, frequently changing websites and eCommerce stores, to ensure data consistency and no loss or duplication of customer order data.

– Full project management of the migration, with all trivial tasks carried out to reduce agency time on the project.

– Free or subsidised hosting for the duration of a migration, to eliminate any additional expense.
