How do I enable FTP server from WHM?

Are you struggling to create FTP accounts from cPanel? Or are you not able to connect via FTP to the server?

Firstly, check if FTP is enabled for the server. By default, cPanel leaves this option disabled due to its security risks. Most new servers do not have this service enabled.

In order to have FTP service up and running, please follow the instructions given below. This can be done only via WHM and for customers who have Cloud/Dedicated Hosting packages.

Step 1

Log into your WHM account.

Step 2

Once logged in, search for Service Configuration on the left-hand side. Select FTP Server Selection.

Step 4

From here, there are two options to select:

ProFTPD

Pure-FTPd

Please note: it is recommended to choose Pure-FTPd.
